Diving for Shark Teeth with Warren Sapp
Two days ago, on Wednesday, September 8, Warren Sapp joined SHRKco during a megalodon shark tooth dive! For those who don't know, Sapp is an NFL Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and later, the Oakland Raiders. When Spearchannel reposted a video from our Instagram account, I was delighted enough when Sapp followed the page, let alone when he messaged asking if he could join a hunt! 5 months and one alligator bite to the head later, a trip was scheduled. Michael Nastasio of Black Gold Fossil Charters took us out with Michael Staab of iHuntDeadThings on YouTube. Sapp, a now avid scuba diver and spearfisherman, was very excited to find Megalodons. Three dives and two tanks later, I come up to the surface with my haul only to hear Sapp yelling at the top of his lungs in excitement with the two large shark teeth he found! They were both only right at an inch, and myself used to finding much larger teeth was reminded about the elation of finding your first full Meg. No matter the size or quality, you'll always remember your first. It took me a year and a half of searching to find mine and I reminded him of that as I pull out my larger teeth. My best finds on the day were two small Megs and the largest Mako of my life, which was covered in soft coral only to be cleaned up as a beautifully colored and preserved specimen. Sapp said he 'had a blast' and hopefully he'll be out hunting with us again! The entire day was caught on video and can be viewed on iHuntDeadThings' YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLF-j-zRe54
